Official Bio:
Standing in the shadows of giants is a daunting task, especially when those giants are metal titans Pantera and Damageplan, as well as hard rock heroes Drowning Pool. The respect paid to those bands is well earned and their lineage bleeds down to a younger generation of bands built on volume, energy and soul. The torch needs to be passed in order to keep the fires burning.
These flames now lay in the able and youthful hands of Dallas’s own Overscene. Unlike its metallic brethren, Overscene is built on melody first, followed by a bruising rhythm section, lock and stock guitars, all held together by vocals that come straight from the dead aim heart. Formed in 2004 by drummer Michael Glass, the band forged its foundation on white hot live gigs and the ability to switch from searing metal to melodic hard rock songs that aren’t afraid to embrace pop- all sharing the same goals of emotional outpouring and personal stories.
The last few months have seen the band at it’s most stable and progressive. Now locked into a powerful five-piece rounded out by bassist Erin Denis, vocalist JR Munoz and guitarists Justin Hold and Aaron Korta, Overscene has laid claim to being the support band of choice for such national bands as Element Eighty and Twisted Method, as well as being famed KEGL DJ Robert Miguel’s “go to” band for his monthly metal blowouts.
In 2004 saw Overscene garner rave reviews, Dallas Local Music Awards nominations for Best Singer, Best New Artist and the Dave Williams (Drowning Pool) Stage Award, a first for band together less than 2 years, and a swell of club bookings and tour offers.
The bands that once influenced the individuals in Overscene now have become comrades, and with the grass-roots determination, Overscene entered 2008 with the engine firing on all cylinders. After taking four months to record at Gridlock Studios in Florida with producer Justin Thomas, the band will be releasing their first full length album ‘The Moment of Change‘ on April 4th. The band will then join their first national tour with Sevendust and Saliva on April 9th.

Great choice for featured band, guys. Been following them for a few months now and have loved all their stuff thus far. I can’t wait to hear the entire album. I wonder where it’ll be available to buy? Anyway, if you haven’t heard of these guys then you’re missing out. The music above proves that much.
“Each Time I Fall” is awesome
this band rocks, kinda like everything justin thomas does
how/when can we get the cd?
So the album is out, where the hell is it?
Hey, I didn’t realize that was Justin that was in Panic Value. Thought he looked familiar.
We’re trying to find out where people can get the CD. We’ll update as necessary.
I think there should be a featured band link on the site where we can look at all the featured bands who ever appeared on this site. Some bands I don’t get a chance to listen to and after their month their gone from the site.
How can you not have a chance in a month? Even so, there’s an extremely evident lack of interest in the featured band during the month (hence why you’re the 7th comment), so with that, I really can’t see there being any interest in past artists. That is of course until the news posting of a past features band signing a deal.
I dunno… this might just sound self serving but I think it would be a good idea. for one… I am not familiar with who the other featured bands are and when I come across one like Art of Dying it makes me wanna check out more… hah. that does sound self serving!
ok how can we get a cd
I talked to JR about when they would have it online and he said it should be up soon.
There will be an article on the main page linking to where you can purchase the album once its available online.
Until then, I guess the only place to pick it up is at one of their dates with Sevendust
Heh…about time they got some promotion!!
Love these guys…
