Wow, didn’t see that coming… What’s with a lot of bands splitting lately. Seems like there has been a rash of them the last few weeks/months; at least moreso than usual.

Trouble has plagued this band from the start. It’s really sad cause their album is pretty good.

it pisses me off when people with talent that i could only dream of waste it away with ego and drugs.

I remember hearing once that Elliott doesn’t really travel with the band. When they’re done performing, he’s pretty much gone and then he shows up when they have to play the next show. I could be wrong, but that’s what someone told me one time. Seems semi-accurate though. I saw them 3 nights in a row and after they got done playing the one night, we all hung out in this supposedly haunted house, but he was nowhere to be found. Afterwards we went back to the house of one of the other bands and yet again, nowhere to be found. So it might be true.
In a way, I kinda saw this coming. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still surprised, just not shocked.

No, Elliot has plagued this band from the start.

Well I was referring to their label problems, but that might be because of Elliot too, I guess. I don’t follow along with this band that much.

I have to give credit to Tunelab because u guys are responsible for me hearing about this band from the beginning. With that said, I bought the album and absolutely loved it, just amazing album. I started to get into the band and follow them and I could tell that Elliot was a problem and even though I have never seen them live I watched some clips on Youtube and his voice sounded terrible live. I started hearing about his drug problems and now this happens, doesn’t surprise me and hopefully the band can move on in better shape….. GOOD LUCK CITY SLEEPS!

I heard he had some serious drug problems/addictions, and it really hurt his live performance. I really liked their album, but I was disappointed to hear him using a vocal track for the high part in the ending of “Not an Angel”.

This is a band which was originally known as Smugface which transitioned till 2003 into a much more melodic rock band, complete with big guitars and near-pop choruses. Loathed ‘Not an Angel’ in the process once I’ve heard its clips on-line.
With the vocalist leaving like this, it’s like the hat was waiting to be flipped over and turn in a new leaf, I’m afraid. If more bands have vocalists leaving the fold in these kind of tight situations, well it depended on the situation like Elliott Sharp’s that if he had a serious problem involving with drug/alcohol addiction, it’s a no-brainer depending if he can take it like James Hetfield did as he has sobered himself up in the same ballfield. Elliott could have taken himself that way, but unfortunately it didn’t work.
Otherwise, time to move on with things if they can find the right vocalist to audition.
That’ll be an interesting process if more news comes up about this.

That’s bull, sorry but it is. Elliotts an amazing dude who’s always willing to help anyone. He might not be the most togther of people, but that doesn’t make him a bad person. He’s done some bad things but he’s apologised the best he can and made amends where possible.
At the end of the day, he wasn’t the one who stooped to using an internet blog to say the things he wouldn’t say to someones face. He deserved everything he got, and as for not travelling with the band!? Maybe he didn’t want to spend his time with insufferable agomaniacs. He never seemed to fit in and now we see why. I remember one night he spent in the hotel room above me, writing music cos he was full of the cold whilst the rest of the band went out and partied with some girls. Says it all really. That’s not an ego problem. That’s just not feeling comfortable. He’s a good guy, and we’ll see how far this band gets without him. He’s better off without them, he’s got the talent to go far. Don’t talk about things you know nothing of. Your basing it and I quote “something someone told you one time.”
I’m speaking out as a friend of his, and I don’t even know the whole story but don’t comment on things you know nothing of. You don’t him personally to judge him, so don’t do it. Its not the done thing. Bad mouthing someone on the internet, someone you don’t really know? Shows how exciting your life is.
