Number One Contender is a Rock band. A rock band that doesn’t subscribe to the idea that they have to be one thing or the other. Five completely different individuals who each bring their own influence, style, and personality together to create a sound all their own. NOC was pegged early on as a band to watch after being chosen as one of the Southeasts top bands by BMI and its listeners. After releasing their first full-length “The Album” independetly, Number One Contender toured the Eastern US throughout 2006 receiving some critical acclaim and some serious regional radio airtime all while collecting fans on all sides of the world. The debut single “Pistola” on that record was featured on Sony PSP title “NFL BLITZ” along side Korn, POD, etc. With the start of 2007, NOC teamed up with producer Eric Bass of band Shinedown and the magic began. Months passed in the studio and as wrapped up the recording at Ocean Industries in Charleston, SC Number One Contender sought out grammy award winning producer/mixer Skidd Mills (BB King, Theory of a Deadman, Saving Abel) and Brad Blackwood(Fuel, Lucero) to put the finishing touches on the new album in Memphis TN. Now Number One Contender is patiently waiting to release the new album “Closer” on October 18th, 2008.

so-so. sounds like a slower Depswa
Speaking of Depswa, they were supposed to release their new EP today. But they havent even updated their myspace. There is no way of buying it.

Nate said it just about right. A slow Depswa. And that’s NOT a good thing. Not digging it. Our TL featured band choices lately have kind of sucked to be honest (no offense). Maybe it’s time to hang up the Featured Band idea for awhile…
Absolutely LOVE NOC!! They put on some badass rockshows with TONS of energy, especially from lead singer Reid. I can not wait to hear the new album.
Love – Willis
saw them kill it last night at the House of Blues w/ Shinedown and bought there new cd, love it!
I actually heard a different story. My brother was there and said they put on a horrible show.
Featured Band is a great idea and i look forward to it every month, but they have been disappointing for a while now (with exception of last month – Burning Borders).
I agree Nate, there hasn’t been a featured band I’ve liked since…well, I can’t remember.
and there hasn’t been a comment in three weeks
Disagree with the negativity for these guys, “I’ll Stop” hooked me hard.
I like the band too gravity
