I'm kind of with feck. There's just nothing that memorable. Like I said earlier, it's Daughtry Light.

I will say, "Bar-Ba-Sol", "Life On The Moon" and "Light On" are pretty good. Not much else though.

He can sing, it is well produced, and the musicianship is solid, but this CD lacks SONGS! There is absolutely nothing memorable here - no hooks, no melodies, nothing. It's not horrible, just boring - VERY boring. I was really looking forward to it too.

This is a great album and the review is spot on. The only thing I dont like about DC is that he is not getting any promotion here in the UK which saddens me a little. I guess he isnt to blame for that though.

How refreshing to read a well-thought out review, that takes the time to really listen to the music. Agree with most of this.....but do think Declaration would have made a great first single rather than LO......but it's probably next to be released. The one caveat is that hearing DC perform these songs live is a whole other experience, and he puts the spin on them that do make them his own...full-on, rocking, without the gloss. Don't miss seeing him perform if you get the chance. As he moves past AI, his upcoming releases in the future will only get better.

Thank you for this incredibly thoughtful, well-written review. I am a big David Cook fan and I agree with you wholeheartedly, the best thing about this album is his voice. His vocal technique continues to amaze me. However, I do skip many of the songs. I always listen to Bar-Ba-Sol and Avalanche, which are pretty much polar opposites style-wise. I just hope this album sells well enough that he is allowed to make another one, where he will hopefully be able to make the music he really wants to make.

Good review Nick. When I first listened to the album, Life On the Moon, Bar-ba-sol, Declaration, Lie and Permanent were my favorites. However, with every listen, I uncover more cool things about the other songs like A Daily Anthem, Heroes and Avalanche (my new favorite). The album might not have been as edgy as I expected it to be, but there are only 1-2 songs that I find skippable now. Great album.

What I really like about this album is that every week I have a new favorite. I like "eclectic" albums and this one is no exception. Yeah, the man has an awesome set of pipes!

"Permanent" is fantastic if for nothing but the insane amount of emotion he puts into that song. Great stuff, solid album.
