agree on a 9.50/10.. a great follow up to End Of Silence. did not disappoint me unlike other bands. one of my fave bands. even their bonus tracks are of album material.

I have to go and say something about that last song on the deluxe version – everyone calls it a “acoustic version” of Fight Inside, but I really think it’s another “version” of the song they did that’s softer, etc. I say this only because that part where it comes in with the big bass line, that’s definitely not acoustic. Just wanted to speak my opinion on that haha.

This is a 10/10 for me .. I love these guys .. i’m so glad I purchased the cd.

The recording is flawless like most of you said and the production and mixing on it is the best I heard in a while. These guys are bringing the hard rock name back!

Ever since I purchased this album, I’ve been hooked and been unable to listen to much else. “Death of Me” is absolutely addictive, as is “Mystery Of You”. The whole album is a masterpiece, probably the best I’ve ever heard. Red definitely smashes the sophomore slump with this one. If you buy the deluxe edition, you wont be disappointed, as I think “Forever” may be the best song on their album and their acoustic version of “Fight Inside” is beautiful.

All in all, I cant say enough about this album or this group. Every song grips you and keeps you listening, there wasnt one time when I wanted to skip anything or was questioning something…..Flawless. 10/10.

So i’m pretty sure that this, as of right now, is going into my top 5 albums of 2009. Granted, we’ve still got Breaking Benjamin (please god let it drop this year), Sixx: A.M., possibly LP and Hurt. Oh look, that should round me off quite nicely.

I agree with Nick I would give it a 9.5 because I love Red’s music and although I like their 1st ablum more I still like a lot of songs on ‘Innocence & Instincts’. My favorites are “Death of Me”, “Shadows”, & “Mystery of Me.” I hope they bring out many more great albums.

Great review. This album is fantastic and a lot more approachable than their debut. “Out From Under” is a heavier sound for them that’s long overdue, and the Duran Duran cover is a keeper too.

By the way, Nick, have you had a chance to hear the new Nural album?

Good review, Nick. I’ve missed them.

Anyways, I agree with your review 99%. I agree w/ Josh on the “oh oh’s” on “Death of Me’” – I like that, it adds another unique element to the song and to me kind of feels almost ‘epic’ to me to end the song the way it does.

Also have to agree w/ Gravity on “Take It All Away” as it is my favorite on the album and feels really epic. Beautiful song to take the regular version of the album out, and of course the 2 bonus tracks and acoustic “Fight Inside” are great. I think “Forever” could have been included in the album, but I kind of feel it doesn’t “fit”, though.

9.5/10 for me as well. Rock on, RED!
