I have been waiting all week for this. Thanks Mikel.

o god no. please no. why wont they just go away

Don’t stop believing.

This cover takes guts

Ow, my ears.

I can’t stop listening to this.

jesus that was even worse than i was thinking it could be

Why would they go away? They are a great band.

This dude needs to lip sync more often.

that is probably the most horrific voice, worst cover and stupidest thing ive ever heard

I’d rather listen to shit hit toilet water.

Who do you think could do a decent cover of this song?
I wish Cash did one before he passed.

nah cash went out perfect with hurt.

I think Lil Wayne could throw it down.

The vocals…just don’t work….at..all.

I could see Godsmack doing a cover… :P

Godsmack?

wow ignore that i put the wrong one up

I agree this was a bad cover, not that he has bad vocals, it just didn’t fit with this song. Daughtry would do this song well.

Ra, Sanctus Real, and train are really the only bands i could see pulling it off

I’d also say Myles Kennedy would do well on this song.

lol matt…..the vocals were horrible

Pillar, TDG, and Panic At The Disco.

Yeah his vocals didn’t fit with that song, I’ve seen Panic! live and seen many videos of them live, the lead singer is far from having a bad voice.

Maybe he had a cold.

Nah his voice just wasn’t made to do this song haha. He could make the excuse that it was a cold, but it wasn’t.

Brad, what the hell is stuck in your ears? That was one level above the other piece of shit.

maybe the song just isnt meant to be covered

I was thinking the same thing….Who could ever match the Steve Perry vocals….It’s like a girly manly voice.

the new singer sounds almost perfect

Hmmmm……well, after giving it another run through it does sound pretty good.

I think Brandon has a great voice and I thought this was a fun cover.

After subjecting us to that you really need to give us Pussy.

i dont think theres really anyone he can sing it better than the new singer for journey

Brandon wasn’t trying to be Steve Perry here, he was just doing this for fun obviously.

Look at how much fun Neal Schon is having.

Mikel, what the hell is your definition of fun?

mikel says fun=doing horrible things to good music

Hahahaha…..nice

no excuse me while i go clean out the blood from my ears

How in the fuck are there 44 comments on this?

How aren’t there 444 comments on this?

welll 38 of them are making fun of it. 3 are mikel saying its fun and 3 are matt defending his voice.

^Post of the day……

I love Journey and this was just awful.

Hate the band. Hate his voice. He can’t sing his own songs live…..but this cover is actually pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised.

Fall Out Boy also did a cover of this song live

It’s sad that people apparently hate this band and they give it 50 comments, but bands they do like are lucky to get 5 comments unless it’s Breaking Benjamin.

I dont understand why people hate Panic. ‘A Fever You Cant Aweat Out’ was pretty good.

Also Flyfreak this is why you should post in forums, so every topic doesn’t have 50 comments of you making fun of the band and railing the posts off topic, just saying.

Because a lot of people on here hate that kind of genre that’s why. I mean honestly, who posts 30 times on news of a band they hate?

I dont understand why people feel the need to waste time and space condemning bands. If you dont like them, dont comment. Or if you must, at least make it somewhat amusimng.

I see at least 3 or 4 news posts a day on here of bands I don’t like and I don’t even leave comments on them. If I do most of the time it’s one comment and I leave it at that, I don’t drag it on. If it’s in the forum that’s a different story, cause that’s a place for discussions.

Precisely. I like you, Matt. You have a good head on your shoulders.

I’ll also have to say this cover is starting to grow on me quite a bit. I think i was just used to hearing the original version.

All in good fun….after a long boring day of painting. No harm, no foul.

I happened to enjoy this cover. I stated my long-standing views on the band and their singer and my thoughts on the song. That’s what I thought these post comments were for (as well as the forums). If the only comments that were posted were positive, this place wouldn’t be what it is today.

I wasn’t talking about you. I was just saying who would want to post 30 some times on a band they hate, when there are plenty of news posts a day on bands that get a few comments that I know for sure more people like.

ntrj, I concur. Anyone can like or dislike any song/artist/album/whatever and give their opinion no matter how high the praise or how low the criticism. It’s all a fun break from the monotony of the day.

Matt, no offense but I never have listened to Panic’s music and never plan to, and I do in fact hate “emo” music.

I won’t post on news about Panic either, if it is their own.

THIS however, is personal. They are touching a legendary song, which is holy ground. They are essentially bringing these comments down upon themselves.

I think most people here are like me, and wanted to see how they did on a great song.

And it was abysmal. I think we have a right to post the goods AND bads.

I don’t care if someone comes in and says, this sucks, it’s awful blah blah blah. To sit there and post 30 comments on it is a little too much. No one should spend that much time running a band down when you have other bands that you love to talk up. Also ever think that they are just showing their appreciation of a band that they love? I found at first listen to be pretty bad, but it’s grown on me.

It’s not to the point where I can laugh at the guy, at some points I think he hit them well. His vibrato is really weird though. and he adjusts the tone like three times a second, which is usually the mark of a singer who can’t hold a note.

Singers like Perry (which are my favorite because they have the skill to do it) can hold those notes in perfect harmony.

The new Journey singer is fantastic at emulating Perry’s voice by the way. Not original but hey, he has a good act lined up.

I’ve heard cover bands do it better, all I have to say on this one.

Good effort! Steve Perry is one of a kind

Gotta love the squeaky ending.
I agree good effort but this song can never be covered without getting some heat its perfect the way it is.

Wow. That’s terrible.

Wow, this is still shit.
