Album Stream: Destrophy – 'Destrophy'

Destrophy is:

Ari (Vocals)
Joe (Guitar)
Bruce (Bass)
Phil (Drums)

Destrophy is the unstoppable 4 piece pop/rock/metal machine based out of Des Moines, Iowa. Officially launched in 2002 by producer and singer/songwriter Ari, who scoured the state and recruited only the most talented and success-minded musicians to bring his vision to the stage. The result is an impressive line-up featuring: Ari, guitar and vocals; Phil T. on bass; Joe Fox on drums; and Bruce Swink, former member of Roadrunner Records, Stone Sour and DownTheSun, on guitar.

Destrophy’s brutal and precise live show, coupled with epic songwriting and pop-oriented vocals continue to build and sustain the buzz surrounding them as one of modern music’s brightest contenders. Destrophy teamed up with Damon Moreno of The Inner Light Agency to work as the band’s manager. “I absolutely believe in Destrophy and I feel this will be bigger than any of us truly realize,” says Moreno. Destrophy has toured and shared the stage with OTEP, Drowning Pool, Korn, Disturbed, 5FDP, Stone Temple Pilots, Saliva, Avenged Sevenfold, Papa Roach, Soilwork, Buckcherry, and many more.

In the summer of 2009, Destrophy secured a multi-album deal with Victory Records. The band will release their worldwide debut album on Victory in the fall of 2009. President of Victory Records, Tony Brummel says: “Having staked their claim as one of the hardest working bands in the Midwest, this incredible 4-piece will be taking over the rest of the country (and the world) when their Victory debut hits stores this fall.”

Not a bad album at all. Good work getting the stream yet again. Really liking “The Way of Your World” a lot.

Hardest working band in the midwest? Don’t leave out Index Case the band that has been screwed over a dozen times…Don’t get me wrong…I like Destrophy and support the Iowa metal scene to the fullest…but what is this Destrophy? Can’t write more than 6 new songs…the cd is full of re-recorded bordom…I had much bigger hopes for this cd.

They should’ve re-recorded the song Eye For Eye.. the chorus in that song is epic. It’s really a shame that they put so many old songs on this cd, and it’s short too. I hope they’ll come up with all new songs next time. But the album is good nevertheless!

  5. flyfreak says:

Guys, I was very happy that they had as many new songs as they did. When a band signs on with a major label they usually re-release what they have already done on their previous album.

  6. TH'NEWBLACK says:

Very true insight Fly. I thought this album was pretty freaking decent. Index Case is also pretty sweet.

Thayne, I’m assuming you are a fellow Iowan then? Yet another Iowa band I wish I could get into but can’t. Musically, good. Just not to keen on the way he sings. I like the melodic aspects but the whole “shouting” voice is just not my style

really digging “Way of the world”

  9. Troy says:

Four new songs is great! I love the new stuff! These guys are awesome! Has anyone seen them live?

  10. phoenix88 says:

and i would say they’re more melodic metal with slightly pop-ish lyrics. Pop/rock is too loose of a term nowadays

  11. TH'NEWBLACK says:

The overlapping vocals, especially in the chorus reminds a lot of what SOiLWORK used to do on their older albums. I like it alot.

  12. TH'NEWBLACK says:

This is straight forward Melodic Metal; good shit right here!

  13. Troy says:

TNB hit it with the vocal style sounding like SOiLWORK. Different music but both excellent bands! Destrophy has logged a lot of time on my iPod! Great band!

  14. TH'NEWBLACK says:

Yeah baby! Bought off amazon, yesterday night.

  15. flyfreak says:

Yeah TNB, gotta give you props also for the Soilwork reference. Nice call.

  16. TH'NEWBLACK says:

Thank you. I was like “hmm, I’ve heard this before. No – because that’s impossible, it’s new.” Then I figured Bjorn Strid. And from there, the rest is history.

  17. 7dust says:

    I concur good $hit

  18. Lara says:

I love this album! My fave would have to be Reconnect, glad I took the time to listen to this stream!

  19. derbman says:

Holy God my system delivers a great bass to songs and i have never experienced the low thumps that these songs deliver haha its great

  20. flyfreak says:

Yeah, it’s really good to see so many people getting into this band…..I hope they take off.

  21. TH\'NEWBLACK says:

Yeah, theyre very solid. I ordered this album, should be here pretty soon I gather.

  22. flyfreak says:

I enjoy all their songs but wonder about that heavy bass line. Is that the way it should sound? It seems very distorted?
