Skillet will head out on a new tour with Shinedown and Puddle Of Mudd starting in January. Dates are expected soon.

This looks very, very interesting…..Very cool and diverse.
i would never in a milllion years expect this. who headlines? theyre probly gonna switch every night between the 3
I highly doubt Puddle of Mudd would headline any of these shows, but I could see shinedown and skillet co-headlining.
100% Shinedown….Skillet isn’t very popular beyond this site.
Actually, I hate to burst your bubble Steve, but ‘The sound of madness’ sold just 50,000 first week, while Skillet’s ‘Awake’ sold 68,000.
Skillet’s album just came out and is blowing up while Shinedown’s album has been out almost three years. This will most likely be a Skillet headlined tour.
While i agree that Shindown will probably be headlining (2 singles on the pop charts), you can hardly make the argument that skillet isn’t very popular outside of TuneLab. Debuting #2 in the country is no small feat, and while TuneLab is growing, I doubt that there are 50,000 members+…let alone members that like skillet…let alone members that would buy the album the first week it came out.
Shinedown headlines.. Skillet will get a solid direct support settime
I really believe a lot of you are underestimating Puddle of Mudd, I don’t see why you guys don’t think they wouldn’t co-headline. All three of these bands are very popular at the moment.
Shinedown featuring Puddle of Mudd and Skillet

^ I can confirm these two dates for the forthcoming tour…
This won’t be a Skillet headling tour. More than likely they will be the opener for both POM and Shinedown. Skillet is definitley better than both these bands but they will be the openers.
Skillet is blowing up in the mainstream market yes but you also have to look at it this way. A mojority of the promoters who bring in Skillet are going to come from the Christian market. While Skillet is getting big in the mainstream, thier following is much more in the christian market. Look at thier current tour. They are headling and could have taken anyone they wanted out on tour, including someband like Shinedown. Instead they took out Decyfer Down & Hawk Nelson because of the large Christian following they have. They will be either the opening band or play right before the headliner. Let’s say 3DG and Breaking B were touring again and Skillet was on the tour, who do you think would be the headliner then?. They did tour with those 2 bands and opened the show
What flyfreak said. You can normally tell based on how the band’s radio singles are doing. I think we all know how Shinedown is doing… While Puddle of Mudd has had success in the past… But Skillet has never really had any radio hits.
luke, it’s hard for some TLers to remove fanboy lust.
CO, I love Decyfer Down and would rather see them on this tour than Skillet…..(see how fanboy works)….
Regardless, I fully intend on going if this tour hits a city that I am in or near.
I’m glad Skillet is on this tour, I’ve never seen them, and I’m really liking their new album. And I go see Shinedown any chance I get.
out of the 3 POM has been the most succefull on the radio
Good..maybe I will actually get to go to a Skillet show where the Crowd doesn’t just stand there. The crowd always sucks for Skillet shows..if Christians are going to have rock bands; they have got to teach their fans how to make a pit :P.
They need to dump Puddle of Mudd and add someone else. I’ve seen them live a couple of times, and they sounded like s**t each time. I’ve also seen Skillet a few times. They put on a great show. Shinedown is awesome with a good venue. They will headline this tour, with POM coming on before them, while Skillet will open the show. Whoever booked the acts for this tour should get a relatively unknown band instead of POM, such as Signum A.D. Give someone new a chance that the crowd will like. Signum will be huge someday if they ever get an LP out there to retailers. Puddle of Mudd is just an hour of your life you’ll never get back. And I actually used to like their albums until I saw them live.
puddle of mudd’s only real pop radio hits were blurry and she hates me back in like 2002 compared to second chance just being big this year
I was at a festival called Lifelight a few years back where Skillet was headling. The “pit” got so bad that someone was actually pushed down and security had to pull him out of the crowd unconsious. So while I know people think it’s “cool” to start a pit, they aren’t as respectful to those who want to rock out without the completly senseless bumbing and pushing into each other.
Yeah, I’ve seen to a lot of mosh pits that got out of hand.
Bigcurt, it’s funny back in the day all I ever heard was that Christians can’t rock. Yet look at today, Skillet, Red, Disciple, Decyfer Down, Flyleaf, all christians who rock and rock loud. Oh how the tides have changed
We As Human, Nema, Day Of Fire, The Ascendicate, Seventh Seal, and Marilyn Manson are more Christian rockers…..
HA HA good one fly on the Marilyn Manson. Would be cool if actually got saved thou. Day of Fire are really good in concert as well.
I thought it would be the Heaven and Hell tour…..
That tour was suppose to happen way back in the day when the rumored Stryper/Motley Crue tour was supposed to happen. It was to be called the Heaven & Hell Tour
Hahaha, I knew that was the least original thing I ever posted…..
My furry friend, all you post is epic. Or simply filler. Or simply…
Thousand Foot Crutch, Since October, Staple, Texas In July, This Fires Embrace, Fighting Instinct, 12 Stones, The Seventh Power, and Reform The Resistance are just a few more Christian rock n’ roll outfits.
There are many
Pillar, One Minute Halo, Number One Gun, Nine Lashes, Manic Drive, Lucerin Blue, Kutless, Kings X, and Justified are a few more….
Nine Lashes is awesome! More people need to check them out
Have and yes Nine Lashes is geat
Juliana Theory, Jonah 33, Jump 5, Jars Of Clay, High Flight Society, Ghost Of Gloria (I think), Head, GS Megaphone, Grammatrain, Ghoti Hook, and Framing Hanley…..
Has this turned into the “name every Christian band out there thread because I’m game:
Building 429,Stryper,Demon Hunter,Blindside,Bride,Ever Stays Red,Fireflight,Falling Up,Family Force 5, just to name a few more
Far-Less, Exit Ten (I think), Embodyment, East West, Earthsuit, drowning Me, Doubledge, Dizmas, and Dirty Wormz….are a few more….
Demon Hunter is my favorite out of all of those you guys named. Their songs just hook you.
Seventh Day Slumber, Spoken, Overkast, Burning Yesterday,Days Divide,Barren Cross, WhiteCross,Guardian,FmStatic, this Beutiful Republic,
Anberlin. i cheated though. Yay google/wkipedia.
And don’t forget Haste The Day…
Well then you might like, DecemberRadio, Dead Poetic, The Classic Crime, Candlefuse, Broken Yoke, Anberlin, Creed, and Alter Bridge….
Correction: the last one mentioned is the music of the Devil
Now look what you did……
avenged sevenfold, audioslave, haha the guy who ran away from korn, chevelle, finger eleven, p.o.d., switchfoot… i didn’t cheat for those, although i made some of it up
oh didn’t realize they replace with a colorful smileyface. i apologize
Who is Creed?
Kyle, just an literary note: Cyclops is the son of Uranus…..
There were three Cyclopes: Arges, Brontes and Steropes. Heaven (Uranus) was disgusted by them so he chained them in the depths of the underworld….
Anything that came from Uranus is utterly disgusting…..
Half of what you say comes from Uranus
Nothing like a good Trojan war to get your britches in a bunch. You frickin Homer…..
If Trojan War refers to properly unrolling a condom, then yes, my brithces are in a bunch
Is Polyphemus the lucky winner of your Trojan stick?
No but your mother is
Polyphemus is my mother…..
Well remembering names is not exactly my focus during those sexcapades.
You guys also forgot As I Lay Dying, Throwdown, Evanescence, UnderOath, Katy Perry. Also, CheVelle, Audioslave and Finger Eleven aren’t X-tian rock bands. On top of this, I saw Shinedown last year, I know what POM sounds like live, and I know what Skillet sounds like live. Shinedown headlines, Skillet is the main support, and then POM opens with a fairly short set. That’s my call. That would be the best lineup for your entertainment dollar.
Also, despite Brian Head Welch being uber religious, he and his music do not want to be consider in that “christian rock” category. Simply, Nu-metal.
yeah i know i was just messing around. you forgot to mention avenged doesn’t fall under any of these categories either lol
Smile Empty Soul would be better choice instead of Puddle of Mudd
Head would be a better choice than Skillet.
Evanescence and Katie Perry are not considered Christian artist either.
Hollywood Undead have Christian roots…
This tour is billed as Shinedown & Puddle of Mudd w/special guest Skillet. I’d bet a lot of money Shinedown will close each show.
For the pitiful album sales they’ve been getting, Puddle of Mudd is still extremely popular. I’ve seen them twice, and both times most people seemed to come to see them. (These were both festivals, boasting the likes as Shinedown, POD, and Buckcherry). And they also stole the show both times. Since, then, Shinedown has exploded in popularity and is on the verge of challenging the popularity of bands like Nickelback and Linkin Park (single -wise, not sales-wise). Not to mention the critical acclaim TSOM recieved. Skillet is certainly opening. They are also getting popular, but they fall into the “rising stars” category while Shinedown is “superstars” category and POM is in the “saturated” category. Last year, Puddle of Mudd headlined a show that had Shinedown co-headlining, with openers POD, Toadies, 10 Years, Saving Abel, and Tantric. Hopefully the new POM album contains a single or 2 that can earn them Platinum status again, but if “Psycho” couldn’t even earn them Gold despite being almost as popular as Blurry, I wouldn’t bank on it.
Shinedown has the 2nd & 3rd most played songs on active rock radio in 2009, PoM’s “Pyscho” was #2 in 2008.
Actually Katy Perry was originally under a gospel record company and release a x-tian album. Before her “I kissed a girl” album
I think her current shtick waves off the old Christian shizzle.
Shinedown is in Europe right now, but they were headlining arenas on the east for 2 or 3 weeks before they went over there. I don’t think PoM has ever headlined in areans
Skillet’s great, Shinedown’s alright, Puddle of Mudd sucks.
The Showdown, Disciple, and Since October are a couple more. Demon Hunter is the best!!
This is a wierd combo… Can you imagine POM finishing up with “She Fkn Hates Me” and then Skillet coming out and going “give it up for POM!!!” Weird.
Endlessartix, it actually goes Shinedown’s great, Skillet’s alright, and Puddle of Mudd sucks.
Actually, it’s Shinedown is the shit, POM is shit, and Skillet eats shit.
lol. I don’t like Puddle of Mudd, and they aren’t very good live. But you don’t like live..so that’s okay for you I guess. I don’t think Skillet eats shit, but I don’t think they are the best, most original band out there. They would sellnothing if they didn’t have that “Christian Rock” tag with them. And that my friends, is saaaaaaaad that the tag “Christian” makes such a huge impact. (Not knocking religious people or music).
I’m not knocking Skillet because of their love of God….I don’t think they are very good. I have seen their shizzle from the get go and I can’t get into it….Very redundant music.
I agree. I’m not knocking them for that reason either. I;m knocking the fact the they’re way more popular than they should, just because of their love for god. Once again, not hating on religious folk or the music.
Even though I’m not a big live music fan I still think that this is a cool mix for a tour…..I think more tours should offer this type of diversity.
What diversity, three hard rock bands?
I like Skillet, they are not the most original band (just listen to “Monster”) but they fit right in the hard rock scene of today. Shinedown is awesome, they just get better and better and freakin rock live. POM SUCKS!! First albmum was decent but everything since has been really bad.
POM should open, then Skillet, and then Shinedown. POM is one of the worst live shows I have ever seen. They rank up there with live Hoobastank, Jet Black Stare, and Buckcherry. Shinedown is the biggest name on the bill and POM is a bit washed up anyway. People will know a few of their songs and that’s about it. Sad that their first album was their best (not to mention only good one).
One more date up on Ticketmaster already: January 29 at the House of Blues Atlantic City
pen, you know diversity…..Like sex….You have oral, vaginal, anal….and your favorite….self-induced….
They’re diverse cuz one’s good, one is okay and the other sucks.
Okay has anyone seen Skillet live here? They put on a great show. I like to think they have a pretty original sound other than the “Monster” song with the violins and keyboard effects and what not. Anyways, I’ve seen Shinedown 4 times and they always are great. I’ve also seen POM on direcTV concert series and theres nothing too great about them compared to the other two. So, I say all in all this show will be pretty awesome and will definitely be looking to go to it if its close.
I just saw Skillet live for the 10th time this past Friday. They get better and better each time. John is an outstanding frontman. One of the best live bands in the business
I am starting to think I am one of like 3 people on here who likes POM. And whoever said they’ve never headlined Arenas, wrong. I saw them IN AN ARENA last year, and they were headlining (over Shinedown, nonetheless). But, you guys fail to realize that people flock to see these guys. While the fact that Famous bombed and they have only had 3 succesful singles since Come Clean (Away From Me, Famous, and Psycho), people still seem to show up in droves. And while Skillet is very popular, it is pretty obvious that it is an Active/Hard Rock show, and that is a genre that POM and Shinedown have conquered (POM in 01-02, Shinedown currently) and Skillet is just breaking into. Puddle of Mudd has continuosly provided atleast one No 1 hit off of each of their albums, no matter how poorly the albums sold, and I think Spaceship is next(though I also think it’ll have a short run at the top.) No matter how much everyone on here hates Famous and Life on Display, they still produced very popular singles, and that is pretty much enough to attract an audience. And Skillet is NOT more popular than SD just because they sold more albums in their first week. SD is currently nearly a lock to go Platinum, while Skillet will probably only manage Gold unless they have two super breakouts off of Awake like SD had with Sound of Madness and Second Chance. I am starting to feel like I am the only person on here who clearly understands how bands rank in popularity (no disrespect to anyone else)
Boston’s primary hard rock station is advertising a 1/23 date for this show… Shinedown w/ Puddle of Mudd at the House of Blues… no mention of Skillet on the bill whatsoever
Chainsaw, that’s the way it should be promoted.
skillet’s good but not great they have a very repetitive sound.
To be fair Flyfreak, if it doesn’t have to do with Audioslave, overrated offensive linemen, or the Republican agenda, its hard to get anything new into Boston’s mainstream radio without making it seem like they just formed as a band.
Sick Puppies was top 5 radio for how long? They JUST started getting played & talked about like they just came out of someones garage.
Dude, I can’t wait for the Flyers/Bruins Winter Classic….
Woo Hoo! This is gonna be great!! We just saw Skillet in October and Skillet Fans were hurting John’s ears so don’t say the fans don’t make noise!! Skillet has been around for longer than any of the other bands and have stayed on a christian label and stuck to their roots. They could have sold out a long time ago but chose not to and I think God will bless them for it.. They have two major hits right now that both the NFL and WWE are using which is Awesome. It will be a good concert for sure! Great diversity like you said.
Just wondering if anyone here realizes that Skillet has been around longer than P.O.M. or Shinedown. Obviously, they haven’t been popular in Mainstream at all until the last two albums (heck, they weren’t even that popular in Christian Rock circles until their 4th album, in around 2001), but they are actually the veterans of the three. Awake is Skillet’s 7th album, whereas Puddle Of Mudd has released 4 and Shinedown only 3.
As for the sounds of each group and how they will go on, I’m sure Skillet will open for P.O.M. and Shinedown will close, because that’s how they rank in (mainstream) popularity. It would be better, in my opinion, if P.O.M. opened, because Skillet puts on an amazing show live, and Shinedown is just awesome. (Not saying this because I don’t like P.O.M., on the contrary I do, but I do have to say they aren’t near as good as skillet and Shinedown).
And for those of you who think Skillet is unoriginal, please try listening to something besides the two lead singles from this album. In fact, listen to something besides this album. As good as it is, Skillet has 7 of them, and they are a lot more multi-faceted than you give them credit for.
